Overnight stays spent in the Azorean hotels and similar establishments, tourism in rural areas and lodging tourism and local accommodation increased by 24,2% in December 2019 compared with December 2018. From January to December, overnight stays increased by 17,7% compared with the same period in 2018. Overnight stays spent in the Azorean hotels and similar establishments increased by 27,0% in December 2019 compared with December 2018. From January to December, overnight stays spent in the Azorean hotel establishments increased by 6,0% compared with the same period in 2018; overnight stays spent by residents increased by 11,4% and overnight stays spent by non-residents increased by 1,7%. Guests registered an increase of 30,9% in December and an increase of 5,6% from January to December. In December 2019, the average stay was 2,51 nights (-3,1%) and the bed occupancy rate stood at 23,6% (4,2 p.p.). Total revenue increased by 19,7% and revenue from accommodation increased by 22,9% in December 2019. RevPar was EUR 16,3 and registered an increase of 19,9%. Overnight stays spent in the Azorean local accommodation increased by 16,3% in December 2019 compared with December 2018. From January to December, overnight stays spent in the Azorean local accommodation increased by 51,9% compared with the same period in 2018; overnight stays spent by residents increased by 36,9% and overnight stays spent by non-residents increased by 59,1%.
