Overnight stays spent in the Azorean hotels and similar establishments, tourism in rural areas and lodging tourism and local accommodation increased by 3,1% in December 2018 compared with December 2017. From January to December, overnight stays increased by 7,8% compared with the same period in 2017. Overnight stays spent in the Azorean hotels and similar establishments decreased by 11,2% in December 2018 compared with December 2017. From January to December, overnight stays spent in the Azorean hotel establishments increased by 0,1% compared with the same period in 2017. Overnight stays spent by residents increased by 4,2% and overnight stays spent by non-residents decreased by 2,9%. Guests registered a decrease of 8,1% in December and an increase of 2,6% from January to December. In December 2018, the average stay was 2,59 nights (-3,4%) and the bed occupancy rate stood at 19,4% (-3,7 p.p.). Total revenue decreased by 0,8% and revenue from accommodation decreased by 2,3% in December 2018. RevPar was EUR 13,6 and registered a decrease of 6,8%. Overnight stays spent in the Azorean local accommodation increased by 73,3% in December 2018 compared with December 2017. From January to December, overnight stays spent in the Azorean local accommodation increased by 37,0% compared with the same period in 2017. Overnight stays spent by residents increased by 21,4% and overnight stays spent by non-residents decreased by 46,0%.
