From 2020 to 2022, the GVA (Gross Value Added) of the Azores Autonomous Region's (RAA) maritime economy registered annual growth of 21.2% in 2021 and 19.2% in 2022, while the GVA of the regional economy increased by 8.7% and 11.0%, respectively. In 2022, the "Recreation, sports, culture and tourism" group became dominant in the RAA's GVA structure, surpassing the relative importance of the "Fisheries, aquaculture, processing, wholesale and retail of its products" group.
